Do you have trouble sticking to a schedule or feel like too much of your day is spent in meetings? Here's how you can make the most of your day.
For one week track your time against tasks and projects with Accelo's client work management platform. If you haven't yet, you can sign up for a free trial here.
A guaranteed way to stay on task is to give what you’re doing your full attention. This means stop checking your emails while you're working on a case study and making time for emails later. We suggest that you give each project your undivided attention and set aside the idea of multitasking. Put every task on your schedule! Yes, even the small stuff. By doing this you're recognizing the importance of your time, the work, and the commitment it requires.
A quick and easy way to practice concentration is to turn off all distractions. Start with 10 minutes at a time. For example, put your phone on Airplane Mode for 10 minutes while you answer emails. Productivity is like a muscle that needs to be exercised. You can retrain your brain to stop sending signals of ‘I want to grab a bag of chips’ when you’re in the middle of writing to a client.
An easy habit that strengthens productivity is checking your schedule periodically. Seeing what’s upcoming in the day ahead allows you to reserve your energy. You may even find that you need to swap a couple projects because you don’t want to jump into a high energy task right after lunch.
And most importantly, give yourself a break. We are not machines! Rest between each task. Take time to acknowledge the work you did, decompress, and take a breath. The goal is quality work that is done efficiently.
